Visiting Niece & Kids in Clarkson, Minnesota

We visited another Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove, MN,
about an hour from where wevisited our niece. The museum was very complete with a replica of a
a sodhouse, a church, a school, in an old train station.  We had a rain storm all morning and I was the baler since the truck leaks around the
windows.  It was nice to be cooler so I didn't complain.  In the afternoon, it warmed right up again and got close to 90 degrees and muggy.  The stop at the Jacobson's in MN including a lovely dinner with Carrie's entire family.  They were so interested in our journey,  a small town newspaper editor they knew came out to interview us and took photos.  Guess we are almost "famous!"
We are hoping to get to Jamsestown, ND tomorrow and be in Canada the following day.  We're also praying the temperatures get cooler but not
too cool as we get farther North.

  1. Mom, those side windows might benefit from the magnets we discussed. If it is the front, you might check out the wide array of weatherstripping shapes available at any hardware or home center. Back in my days of driving a leaky 914 I just drilled holes in the floor to let the water out as fast as it came in. One advantage of cars over boats is that even with holes in the bottom, the card are statistically less likely to sink.

  2. So cool that you get to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder museums! I don't envy the heat in the car - I keep thinking about biking in the heat and hope we can move fast enough to keep ourselves cool. Seems like even if your days are long and hot, your evening stops have all been well worth it!! I'll blog about our trip too - address to come soon!
